Product Description
According to the warranty conditions of the manufacturer Brooks England, Brooks Proofide Leather Dressing 50 gr is the only dressing that may be used on a leather Brooks saddle. Using other leather dressings will void the warranty.
A new leather Brooks saddle is best treated with Brooks Proofide Leather Dressing 50 gr to aid in the 'breaking-in' process. Brooks Proofide keeps the leather supple and is specially formulated by Brooks from natural ingredients that condition the leather and make your saddle water-resistant. Proofide is the only dressing that should be used to optimally care for your Brooks leather saddle.
The main ingredients of Proofide are tallow, cod oil, vegetable oil, paraffin, beeswax, and citronella oil.
Apply a small amount of Proofide to the finished side of the leather. Let the Proofide sit until it is dry and then polish it out. Proofide should be used several times during the 'breaking-in' period and every 3-6 months thereafter.
For bikes not equipped with mudguards, an initial application to the underside of the saddle will be beneficial; this rough side does not need to be polished. The leather gets its color during the tanning process, so it is possible that some color may transfer. It is recommended to polish the saddle with a soft cloth before first use.
